Treats for my Sweet Bug...

So this is the weekend of the bug bash!!! I have been hard at work on the details and now the fun stuff starts.  I made some treats for the party today...

I wanted to do fun bug themed desserts and decided on two different cake calls.
First I did a chocolate cake ball dipped in red chocolate and added mini chocolate chips as the dots to make lady bug cake balls.  Aren't those sweet?

Next I decided to make vanilla cake balls into bumble bees.  I dipped them in yellow chocolate and then striped them in chocolate.  I added a chocolate chip as a stinger and added white chocolate wings.  For the wings I cut white chocolate melts in half!

The last treat I worked on was ants on a log.  I was going to do the traditional celery with peanut butter, but honestly I am not sure how many kids would eat it- so I dipped pretzel "logs" in white chocolate and added brown sprinkles to make them look like ants.

I love how they all came out together!  I cannot wait to put together the whole dessert table...now wish me luck with the cake....

Buggy Sneak Peek

We were away for the weekend and now I am back in full swing of getting the bug party ready...  I thought I would share a sneak peek of what is to come...

Me and the boy making our soap favors!   What little boy doesn't love a bar of soap with a bug in the middle!

I tied the finished soap bars to butterfly nets and put the tag I made on them!

I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peak of the favors...Next I'll share some more of the party details...

Let Them Eat Cake...

My house is quiet, say what?  It's been a busy week and I finally have a little time alone.  I threw in the laundry and while I could potentially be doing a ton of things, I wanted to take a little time out to post a few cakes I have made... let's call it "catch up, cake and treat style!"

So many moons ago, I could not sleep (shocking, I know) so I watched an infomercial for this cake decorating set.  By morning I was determined to get it- but instead of the one from the infomercial, I bought a cheap little set at a decorating store.  I have never taken a class and sometimes the things work, and sometimes they don't.  Good thing even my mistakes are tasty....

So here are a few of the things I have done over the years...
